The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic root "Ramida" or "ar-Ramad" meaning scorching heat or drought. There may be two interpretations of the name. The first is that Ramadan means yearning for food and water, as is the month of fasting. The other interpretation is that fasting burns with a pure intention previous sins. Ramadan prayers
